It's been a long 18 months but here we are. This is just the first of many ISO meetings this semester, so grab a friend and join us on Zoom as we kick off a great semester!
ISO is collecting canned food for our campus food pantry! Our goal is to donate 100 cans of fruit and vegetables by the end of February. We can do it ISO! Canned Items Needed: Veggies - beans, green beans, peas, corn, diced tomatoes. Fruit - fruit cups, jelly, raisins, cans of fruit with light syrup. You can turn in all cans to room S.11-228 during our meeting times. In our first meeting of the semester we will be celebrating Chinese New Year! Come join us on January the 31st after the College Knowledge Fair in room S.11-228!
First ISO Meeting Date: 1/31/2019 Time: 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM Room: S.11-228 Phi Theta Kappa is sponsoring an amazing event on campus called Breaking the Stereotype! Come join us as we talk about our different cultures, identity, and the impact we can make with our cultures in society.
When: December 3, 2018 Where: S1.149 Time: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Food from different cultures will be provided at the panel as well as tickets for attending. Can't wait to see you there! Much has happened. Ever since Chinatown we have been in journey around the city, jumping from community to community, tasting new food, and generally enjoying ourselves.
After the night at Chinatown we headed off to see live performance of Chinese dance at the outdoor theater. The performance was beyond beautiful and such a magical experience. After visiting the Chinese community we came back to home base to celebrate our campus Fall Festival. We had such a blast dressing up, decorating our booth and raising funds for our club. By the end of the night all 12 of us shoved into a photo booth, took ridiculous pictures and danced the night away to cumbias. Following, we went to the flea market where we ate tunas, aguas frescas, churros and tacos. There was much food, much walking, and plenty of enjoying. Afterwards we passed by to an Asian bakery where we tried some new bread such as taro, red bean, and espresso. Since then we have been brewing plans for the future. Perhaps a trip to future culture festivals or to other communities within our area. Who knows what the future holds for our cultural adventures but we are sure they will just keep getting better and better. |
ISO TalksISO Talks is our wonderful blog space. We hope you will enjoy it just as much as we do. We will talk about activities, deliver updates, and show our mini world to the big world. Upcoming
